Meet Jessica
I love my work as a psychotherapist. I’ve been a client too and I know personally how transformative and healing good therapy can be.
I’m licensed in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Colorado. I’m a National Board Certified Counselor and I’m a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. I’m a verified therapist with Psychology Today. I have almost 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health and LGBTQ+ health clinics, and in private practice and group practices.
I’m an outdoors enthusiast and love hiking, running, rowing, paddling, cycling, and exploring local trails and breweries with my husband and our three dogs, Daisy, Oliver, and Charlie. My pronouns are she/her.
Me and my beloved dog Buford, before he passed away in 2020.
My Therapeutic Approach
As a trauma-informed therapist, my therapeutic approach is a combination of strength-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, attachment theory, and family systems. I describe my counseling style as warm, practical, humorous, and directive.
Therapy is a space where there are no other distractions or interruptions, a space where you can take your time and not feel rushed. I provide a nonjudgmental, healing space in which to safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My goal as a therapist is to help you feel truly understood, help you to understand and accept yourself, and give you tools to move through the world in a more adaptive way. I'm here to support you, to challenge you, to empower you, and to root for you as you go through this process.
